E38 740 brakes upgrade
I believe the 750 has the two piston calipers and bigger rotors in the front. From what i kno the brake lines are the same. So doing a swap shud be easy. Wonder if its possible to get a hold of the front 750 calipers in good condition. Better brakes never hurts
The rear is the same in both cars im quite sure. Any insights?
has neone tried this? Or have a better brake mod?
Note: Image of black E38 is of a 750 with newly installed brakes.

First off, for the 750 brakes, you will need the rotors, calipers and the carriers from a 750. Best bet is to find a junker that has a 750 to take parts from, but that is rare.
Yes the rear brakes are the same.
IMO, the additional stopping power vs. the $ for this upgrade is not worth it, unless you are putting down some serious power, moreso than a 750.
I just purchased Brembo rotors (blanks), Akebono Ceramic pads and SS Braided lines that should be going in sometime soon.

Ahh forgot about the carriers...that is very important. Cost wise its not that much actually. Just front rotors and pads I can get at a moderate price. The problem is finding the calipers. I have found used ones from Bavauto for 75 bucks a piece. Ill do the job myself so tht will save me some money as well.
I currently have brembos drilled and the ceramic pads.

Actually the 750 rear rotors are different too - bigger and ventilated.
Doing it yourself makes sense, as it is only a few bolts.

Hi V12,
Do you know if the brake booster is different as well. Im thinking if the 750 has bigger brakes altogether it will probably have a stronger brake fluid pressure. The rear therefore have different calipers aswell?

What is diff: Caliper, carrier, and disc.
I checked the part numbers and the brake booster are the same. Usually there should be a proportioning valve to balance front and rear and the progressiveness of the brakes but I am not sure where this is on th eE38.

Thanks man tht helps. If the booster is the same then the propoertioning valve should be the same as well. Im quite happy with the brakes actually just thought if its an ez job why not have stronger brakes. couldnt hurt now could it
