I thought the whole point of you selling your e30 and buying something else is so you wouldn't have to put work into it, just drive it and that's it, yet you have to do all of this work??? I'm confused, if you have to fix it, it might as well be an e30 so that you have the pleasure of driving that fine machine.

John, I got your email with the results for the first three auto-x's... did I get left out of the results for the last three, or have they not been mailed out yet?

I bought a car that I can just modify sleightly. E30's usually need work, and the ones that don't are extremely expensive for a 20+ year old car. A miata is an absolute joke to work on. Theres ton of room around the engine and are simple.

E30's are good cars, but they're not great (not saying a miata is but it works). And they're expensive on insurance. The Miata is 100$ less a month, and get's considerably better gas milage, not to mention parts cost half as much.

I was looking at E36's but parts are expensive and they're a lot more on insurance, unless I get like a 323i, and even then it costs more then the e30.

E36 are cheap to take care of, and maintance parts are pretty much the same as the e30, and cost is realitive to how you treat the car, and what you mod.

I never thought I'd see you in a 4 banger with less power then an M42, what's that thing you say, no replancement for displacement!!

All kidding aside, they are a fun little car, just not practical or useful as a DD.

E36's aren't as cheap as this. And the deciding factor was the insurance rate. E36 was 100 more in insurance than what I pay now, this was 100 less. Considering I'll be autocrossing it, and trying to get out to track days, maintenance is more expensive on an E36. Miata quality coilovers are 1000$, e30 half assed ones are 1600$. But we're comparing apples to oranges here. There is more swap options in miatas, and I feel they have a better aftermarket support. (And yes John, there is a LSx swap kit for the miata, that is fairly reasonably priced) And it's practical as a a daily. I don't see what differs it from an E30 aside from size.

And there is a replacement for displacement... Boost. Which is in the car's future. Finally I can put that E-manage piggyback fuel and igniton computer I have laying around to use.

In the end I'm still driving a miata. But it's a commuter that will be beat on occasionally.

guess insurance was a big factor for you, I have been lucky with that in only paying 1400 a year for both of my e36's.

At least you've been able to find something affordable to you and it's right wheel drive, I'm sure you'll be back in the BMW world b4 u know it.

If I get an e30. It won't be one from Canada. And chances are I won't get an E36, unless it's an M3, and that would even be iffy.

That's the spirit. DOWN WITH E36's!!!!!
(I use my e36 as a dumpster!... and Rich's uses for parts. Those are really the only two things that e36's are good for.)

So sounds like the oct 17th autocross is shaping up to be quite the event, new location which means a totally new course route, top that off with some of the cars I have heard are going to be running this is an event not to be missed.

Spectators will be thrilled by the cars that are susposed to showing up!

Will be very interesting to see the handling vs HP battle taking place !!!

Oh and all the braggers and talkers who think their cars are the shit, it's time to drive it and show it!!

This is the second last event of the season, so if you want winter bragging rights it's time to earn them!!!!

I will be there with the E38 for the event on the 17th!

If I wanted to become a member, can that be done before hand, or can it be done same day?

It can be done same day. They usually have the paperwork on hand.

I had to do it. There was no other option.

If I make it out to the autocross I'll be showing up late and in some fancy attire. Engagement photo shoot with the car the same day.
