e36 Non Bmw Engine Swaps

Hey guys I did a search didn't really find what i was looking for.

Im in the process of building a single turbo 1jz, e36.

Id like to know how many e36's there are here in Ontario. With any other engine except for a Bimmer engine.

There has to be a few V8 swaps. I want to know which ones actually drive too. lol

I know there's like some 100 Mazda miata V8 swaps and i think there's like 5-6 ish under 10 that actually are able to drive.

If anyone has a e36 with a cool engine swap let us know what it is.

Maxbimmer member 'notjoe' has/had a e36 with a corvette engine in it. RMP did the swap.

5.0L mustang engine is becoming one of the newer popular swaps. Engine weighs pretty much the same as an m50 as well.

+1 5.0L motor. I've read about this being done...with ease!
and these motors can take a beating. I used to have a stang with a 5.0 HO motor. stock motor, and that thing cooked. I remember flying southbound down Woodbine north of 7, off the light keeping up with a crotch rocket. he had maybe two car lengths on me and I over shot him by like 5 lengths trying to stop at the next light. The brakes had nothing on the motor. He then looked over at me, lifted his visor, in amazement (that I kept up) and gave me the thumbs up. All in all, this motor meets my seal of approval.

LS1 i think is the only way to go if you're gonna do a no bmw swap. i would like to get an e36, or a porsche 944 and drop an ls1 in it. That is my next project after i get my m3 the way i want it. cant go wrong with an LS1. 380 hp, retarded torque, and basically the same weight as the 3.2L m3 6

The chev v8 is the only one worth doing, its not about being creative, it also puts the weight in the perfect car and the car is acually more balanced. thats the only drw back to the 6 cyl motors is their length.

Also a N/A motor pushing over 300 hp is more reliable for tracking then boosted motors.

the options for the chev small block are insane, probley the biggest aftermarket selection of parts and do dads of any motor ever!!!

my choice would be a 383 crate engine......
