New is good and old is good, thats why we can do swaps

The Isetta was such a big success it saved BMW from potential bankruptcy, and allowed them to go on to build your E30. Thank the Isetta!

Getting back to the point of this thread...

Many people may lack the level of interest or technical vocabulary necessary to articulate why their car feels the way it does, but they feel it nonetheless and process that information at a subconscious level. Basically, non-enthusiasts like BMWs because they feel like BMWs. Rear drive is an essential part of that formula. Lacking it, the car will not feel like a BMW.

Say I like the food at restaurant A. They happen to put a lot of oregano in their sauces, but all I know is that I like the sauce. I am, after all, not a chef. If someone asked me how I felt about oregano, I'd probably be indifferent since I don't really pay attention to individual ingredients. I would, however, notice if they stopped using it in the sauce.

The Mini is a wonderful car -- nimble, swift, sporty and blessed with a good bit more character than a host of other same-size front-drive hatches. It does not, however, feel like a BMW. All well and good since it's not called a BMW.

A move to FWD represents a fundamental misapprehension of customer desires and brand values. Further, the proposed move is evidence of a profound leadership vacuum at BMW. The old vision is gone, replaced by a follower's mentality.

If I live to see an M car thats only FWD I'm going to shit in a box and mail it to the vierzylinder in munich. I hate the way the M cars are going these days the X6 M is what really pissed me off.

You want to build an M version of one of the X vehicles it should look like this...

BMW knows that no owner would ever do that to their BMW though. How many Range Rovers are bought to drive off road across Death Valley compared to to the Spa in Beverly Hills? So BMW set out to make it the most amazing on-road SUV in the world, which they succeeded at.

They won't make an M version of this small FWD car they'll create especially since they don't even want to make an M version of the 1 series. But now I have to ask, how many M vehicles have you bought so far?

Well I'm a university student and not from a loaded family so needless to say I haven't bought any M cars yet. My father however has an E39 M5. He said when I'm ready (aka when I can afford it) he'd sell it to me and he wants to buy one of the new M3's. Is that good enough for you....

I give. You just won't stop. You have to be right. If they slap an M on a SUV what's gonna stop them from doing it on a FWD? You yourself said they are in the business to sell vehicles so why wouldn't they

see my problem with all your arguments. You go back and forth

Anyway. What ever. I don't have to buy it. Unfortantly people will just so they can say they have a BMW or and m

Atta boy. M5 V8 is an amazing car!!! One of my favourite BMW's. He won't be disappointed with the new M3 V8 either.

Seriously. Why you got to be such an ass to people. Just because he hasn't bought one doesn't mean he's not aloud to have an opion. Just cause you do doesn't meen you get respect cause your car has a higher price tag.

It's got nothing to do with price tag. If you haven't experienced M cars, you'd have no idea what they "should" be. He rocks an M5, so he's all good!

Think you suffer from selective reading. He has an e30. His dad has an m5. He rocks the e30. (no offense to steve)

None taken, I love my E30. I made an excuse today that I needed to buy a few washers just so I could take it for a rip and go to home depot

However I've been a passenger in my Dad's M5 on and off the track. Needless although I don't rock it, I know how that car rocks. I'm definitely looking forward to owning that car someday, it's well worth the high maintenance.

I love the course of this thread. Can't we all just disagree that 80% of 1 series owners are total and complete Douchebags? You know it's true!!

I'm sure we'll see an E46 M3 Competition out at the Auto-x in London. Hell, I'll pay your enterance fee, just for the pleasure of finding out whether or not BMW is on the right path. You'd think with all the extra BHP, they would be faster, more agile cars. For a company that has been saved from bankruptcy so many times, they might take a wrong path here and there. Quite honestly, I'd love to see them take a dive into their own shit, but I drive a 318is, so I can't have an opinion on anything. And you're damn right that Richie, nonlocal, and I are not potential clients for the shit they build... but that's their own doing. They don't make anything I like. Don't you think they'd like to have us as clients?
