YOu pushing the brake pedal will do nothing, since the computers will not tell the brakes to activate???

Think about this for a minute before you answer.
it can't do more then 40 miles an hr or less on electric only

omg, omg, omg you think that any governments transportation governing body would allow something like a only electrical braking system? baha, I laugh at you.

Most countries transport ministies dictate that braking and steering systems can not be electrical alone in motor vehicals.

Hence the terms assist, assistance.

Happened to me once. It didn't unplug but connection wasn't good enough. I made a turn, and didn't downshift so my RPMs dropped to the point where alternator didn't provide enough amps and the car just shut off.

The hydraulic brakes assist the regenerative brakes, but you would have known that if you read more than 1/4 words in my posts...

You should fear ever getting on a commercial jet

@sickfinga
If the connection to the battery is eliminated in any way (in normal cars) the vehicle's electrical system no longer has a completed circuit. The battery in the prius isn't integral to completing the circuit so it makes almost no difference. Keep in mind it has more than just the lead acid battery.

Who cares.....there is always a fail safety system whether its hydrolic or electric.
Did you guys watch the video posted earlier? The guy switches the car off and still manages to slow down
And if this dont workd the handbrake is also available (in some countries also refered to as an emergency brake).
The guys that had these accidents knew f all about driving. Not saying there is no fault with the car but you could stop easily. Even if it revs and you cant get it in neutral you can do all sorts of stuff to slow it down to a hault. Drop it in the lowest gear and use both brakes and handbrake or do an evasive turn. If you end up at 130mph it means you did not react right or on time.

Okaaaaayyyyy, let me restate that.

An airplane is not a motor vehical it is an "aircraft".

Regenerative brakes, have the ability to function dependendly/independently. By law, hydraulic brakes need to be able to function independently because as in this case the regenerative braking system failed, but is always backed up by the hydraulic system because it is "independent".

But I think the bottom line is that all of these people that get themselve into similar situations must have their licences revoked if they live that is.

^^i dont mind that interior at all.

Seems to me like you're comparing a 18K economy car to a 50K luxury car.

Toyota and Honda provide a product that is in demand: a lame, affordable, reliable car that is efficient and lasts. If the product was not in demand, why are they the best sellers?

The general public is stupid for making them in demand. The civic of old for example was a decent machine. The new civic is wedge
