Cold Air, What To Get?
I'm more than likely going to be buying a cold air for my 318is.
I was thinking about the K&N 57i kit found here http://www.knfilters.com/57i/57i-induction-kits.htm because it can be found almost anywhere. I haven't looked at the price of it yet, but does anyone know of a cold air that they would use rather than the K&N mentioned above? Can be a little more expensive, but should be around the same price.
Thanks.

Don't buy, paying for a intake is crazy.
Make one way to easy. Piece of piping, I used a civic intake cut it a bit. $10 new, get a cone air filter intake and filter $60

Thanks so far guys. So, your saying I would be better of, going to CT, and buying the K&N cone filter by itself, and then making the intake?

You must stick it through the fender well into the cooler brake duct air, don't consider a short ram intake without a heat separator.... however a point to consider with long ram intakes is their tendancy to suck in water. Threre is alot of water that comes off the road surface when wet and alot if general debris is kicked up when dry. You should consider a short ram intake as it less prone to all the factors I mentioned. Sounds more throaty than a long ram. Actually had a buddy write-off his 540 when he got caught in a heavy rain and hit a deep puddle on the road.... water got sucked into engine..... A final thought. Long ram filters get dirtier quicker than short ram filters and ironically also more difficult to access to clean...... UMMMMM

I was actually going to get a short ram intake, and something to block and keep heat out. Where can I get a heat shield/ separator?
