Where in mississauga is the best place to get this fixed for the cheapest?
How much is it for a small stone chip in windshield to fix?
is it ok to wait a week or two before I fix it?

thank you

30 min - 1 hr. Sealant has to dry and most insurance companies cover and don't increase rates if you have it done. Did both the wife's and my car last summer...

I would recomend having this done as soon as possible because you never know when a crack will form
A few weeks back I was driving a rental car on a buisness trip. A rock hit the windseild and created a chip, next day I hit a bump and a crack went across the entire window.

Comprehensive claims do NOT affect your rating/premium. (like nachos said)

Don't be surprised if your insurance company doesn't cover it.

They used to do this to save themselves money. A repair was cheaper than a replace and a full replace was generally always claimed on the policy. Since the base deductible has gone up (from $300 to $500) and the cost of glass has come down; A full replacement of the windshield is typically less than the comprehensive deductible and it's not going to be claimed anyways.

I'd say maybe 1/2 of them still do this if not less.

I had apple do one for me years ago and it was remarkable how invisible it was - not perfect - but close. there is DIY kit: http://autorepair.about.com/od/tools...dshfix-rev.htm

The longer you wait, the greater the chance that it will crack and spread = no longer repairable.

I got mine done mid-summer last year. It was amazing how it looked. I took it to the Apple Auto that is at the Mississauga car mall behind what is now a Mitsubishi dealership. Just call your insurance and see if they will cover it. It took me about 3 calls to get different people to talk to until they finally allowed it. For me, it seems I need to get the right person when I call in for them to pay for stuff like this. lol

It'll also depend on the shape and type of stone chip to determine if it's repairable. I think any chips with radiating lines (star burst) cannot be repaired but bullets types are fixable. I had a impact repair done but after year two it started to radiate outwards.

I agree, but just a heads up:

Wawanesa Memo

RE: Automobile Rate Increase effective May 1, 2010 for both New Business and Renewals.

Claims expenses continue to rise to unprecedented levels in the Ontario Personal Automobile market.

There have been dramatic increases to our claims costs, particularly in Accident Benefits claims. Given this deterioration in our auto experience, we have filed and have received approval from the FSCO for an overall 8.44% auto rate increase effective May 1, 2010. The extent of the increase will vary by territory.

We have also filed for and have received approval for the following conviction surcharges:

• 10% on the 2nd conviction
• 25% on the 3rd conviction

In conjunction with these conviction surcharges, we have also filed for other minor underwriting rule changes. We will provide you with formal notification of these changes as soon as written approval is received...
That conviction rule change is going to hurt a lot of people.

Despite all of the increases they have had, they are still one of the most competitive companies I work with.

Is that for FUTURE convictions after may 1, 2010 or does that count for older convictions that didnt result in a raise of rates? Will this effect ppl that have convictions from before may 1st 2010?

Took 30 min to get my windshield repaired. Cost me nothing, billed to insurance and the stone chip looks 75 percent better, not perfect but hard to notice now.

The bad news is that it goes for any conviction on your record within 3 years.
The good news is that it costs $$ to pull your record so the insurance company doesn't check every year. I've had clients who have had a suspended licence go unnoticed for 2 or 3 years by them, us, and the insurance company!

When renewal time comes around, pray.
