so i was watchin champions league yesterday and across the street a house is being torn down. i decide to go out to move my car to allow the huge dumpers more room. when i get to my car, i motion to the dump driver which way he'de like me to move it.
in the time it took me to get my keys and put on my shoes...
i want to save the car.
is icbc gonna write it off or give me pay-out?
im guessing theyre gonna low-ball me with something like $2000.
advise, suggestions?

my advise is get all the information you can before the driver tries to pull a fast one saying it wasn't him. You should have taken pictures of the dump truck with your paint on it or get a witness.
Car value is what it is unless you noted to your insurance company that its more then what it is. If its a sunday driver car past 25 years then you will get more but if its a daily beater .. don't expect the world.

try to get some papers from an authorized dealer sayin that it's worth 3-4G's, and fax those papers to the insurance, it usually works.

go to an authorised dealer?
like go to one of the local dealerships and get them to write something up for me saying:
'w/o the damage the car is worth $XXXX?'
will they do that or will they just laugh b/c im too poor to buy one from their lot?
(i dont know where you live but bmw dealers out here are real 'beep'-holes)
ill do it anyways cause tm i dont have anything to do.

I think the problem with that is a dealer wouldn't really know how much they're worth. Most guys that work in the dealerships around here don't even know what the chassis codes are. They'd give you about $50 for a 325e on trade in, so that's the only value they know of.
Around here you present the insurance company with local for sale ads with similar mileage and condition cars, and they pony up. For rarer vehicles you'd need ads from national papers. Most people use autotrader. I don't know if ICBC works the same way.
Wow that is going to cost serious money to fix. If not many hours of metalwork and bondo, then many hours of welding in new metal. Then prep and paint.
If they offer you 2K for this car, take it. Trust me.

the 325e has a 2.7litre m30 and is a much lower revving motor. it was designed for fuel economy. My dad brought me home an E30 and I was excited because I thought it was an IS. It ended up being an e so I bought an E36 M3 lol.

quick question, what is the diff between 325e and 325i?
That sucks man, I'm in a similiar situtation, was rear ended. My damage wasn't nearly as bad yours though, but because the left taillight on my car was pushed in 4 inches (I have a new respect for metal bumpers, it absorbed almost ALL the impact and destroyed the front of a corrola ), they are writing the car off.
The good news though, is that because the car was about as close to brand new mechanically, and I had all the reciepts to prove it, I am getting close to $4000 for it
I don't know how picky your insurance is, but I think all the verts for sale are pushing overall values for all e30s upward

Correction 325e's have m20b27 engines. We only wish we factory m30 e30's (atleast here in north america).
