1999 323i wheel offset... BBS

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone here is able to help me out with a tech question in regards to wheel offset. I have a '99 323i. I also have a set of BBS 17x8 Wheel's with a 18 ET offset. Will these fit the car? From what I have gathered online, they might, the lower the offset number, the futher away from the car the wheel goes. SO, it the car came with 42ET, and I'm putting on 18ET, the difference is going to 24mm... That's pretty much one inch. Anyone know how all this works?
