Anyone have Bell Fibe Internet?
Well since I've moved in to my new house, I've been stuck with a new ISP. Source cable.
Anyway it's terrible. Very unreliable connection.
So my only other option in the area is Bell. I've been looking at the new Fibre Optic options they have and was wondering if anyone has it and has any input.
Will definitely be going with 16 Mbps or the 25 Mbps.
Just mostly worried about pings. I want to know I'll have a good connection when playing on the PS3 or when my brother is doing whatever it is you do in WoW haha.
Any input would be great.

they arent offering fibre to the door yet (some areas do but thats because they were built recently). the fibre network only runs about 3/4 of the way to the houses and or buildings at the moment. they already offer 16meg and 25/30/44 are around the corner.
I love 16mb i have it at my house and its been very reliable for me. Im on my Ps3 and the girlfriend is online doing stuff i never see an issue unless shes downloading music. i can take a hit on my ping but its not terrible.

My friend has it in his condo and it's super fast and reliable. Gets 18mbps on slow days.

I don't know why people need crazy download speeds unless of course you're leeching a shitload of movies or something. I have TekSavvy (basically Bell DSL) at 5mb. I can play QL online with a 30ms ping, while downloading BTs at 200k, and the wife is surfing the web. All this over wireless G. I aslo run a web server and mail server on this network (though wired). I pay like $30/month and that includes a static IP and unthrottled downloads.
Seems like just a keeping up with the jones situation here, without any real-world benefits. Maybe I just lead a shelterred life.

It actually the upload speed I'm worried about most. Right now I only have 500 kb/s upload which is pretty terrible.

Also curious. Is it just like DSL back in the day?
Do I have to dial in everytime I want to connect? And I'm guessing it still comes in to the house through a phone line?

i believe fibe has PPPOE login like DSL, mark will be able to say forsure.
500kb/s upload is WICKED. Why do you need a fast upload?
Is fibe async?

I think he means kilobits/second. so 500/8 kBytes/s which IS pretty bad but pretty standard.

Ya 7.5 mbps down, 500 kbps up.
Before I moved I had 14mbps down, 1mbps up. But that company isn't available in my new area.
So, I think I'll give Bell a shot. I've been reading really good things.

Bell has rogers beat in terms of upload speed.
Bell is cheaper too $52.95 vs. rogers extreme plus at $69.99.
But they have a lower cap, 75gb vs. 125gb.
Too bad it isn't available in my area.
