Lexus sc430

Im thinking of purchasing a 02 Lexus SC430. I dont know much about these cars, so if anyone can provide some input or reviews about this car i would appreciate it. Pros and cons are welcome.

The Top Gear guys said that the only thing that's good about that car is the engine.

I personaly don't like it. Looks like a chick car. I much prefer the older generation one (the sc400). Now thats a great car

pros and cons will vary from person to person,

personally a car I would never buy, its ugly, the colors are aweful I hate the layout and interior and I feel like i'm aging 10 times faster every breath I take when I'm in one, don't even get me started on the rear... EWWWWW ... however the engine is very smooth and I absolutely love the way the steering feels (not the handling while driving, but the actual way the steering wheel steers, its so effortless).

My opinion may be biased because I don't enjoy driving a boat. This is definitely a chicks car... I don't want to step all over your fondness that you may have for the sc430, but I think that you should take a better look at some other roadsters before you take the plunge.

EVO magazine, which is the most respected car magazine in the world. says that it is one of the worst cars ever made. I don't think its that bad, but apparently, its a supremely anodyne driving experience.

ahaha, always tactful anouk.
Didn't you say that 370z was designed by crackhead Japs? Funnily, I thought it wasn't as good looking as the 350z at first, but I think it looks pretty sick now. Changed your opinion any?

I like how the thing performs, it's a pretty neat car in that aspect. Same for the 350z. But neither of them win me over because of the interior on the 350z and the odd angles in some of the exterior design on the 370z...

omg what're you talking about? The interior in the 350z is the greatest EVA. The hard, brittle plastics, the faux aluminum trim, the front cubby that doesn't open until you press it five times....

I'd rather do an '03 350z or whenever it came out, and I'm not crazy about that car either. Get an e46 cab instead.

man, you guys are on crack or something, just caused a magazine said how great a car is doesn't mean it applies to everyone, what the **** is the avg Joe going to do with a Porsche 911 GT2? he'll probably hate it cause it won't clear speed bumps.

the SC430 handles sloppy stock, the front spindle is a Supra spindle, so if you ever want BBK for cheap, go for the Supra Turbo brakes, there are tons of options out there to mod the car.

The 2UZ is a great engine, it does have a low idle issue when a/c compressor is not running, I had it with mine and there's no fix to it, the idle will drop to 450-500rpm, compare to a BMW, its barely noticeable.

there have been complaints about the roof mechanism rattles, apparently its a hinge recall or sort for select production date, it should all sorted by now.

The rear seats are almost non-existent, don't expect anybody to seat at the back for long period of time.

check out clublexus.com , there's a huge section for the SC430, bottom line is, if you want a trouble free all season drop top, relatively fast in the straight and quality, you can't beat the SC430, with most of them well in the 20's in good condition.

btw, I always think the Bentley Continental GT conv. share lots of similar design cues as the SC430, the first thing I'd change is the suspension thou, its very soft and the factory 18" wheels have the worst offset in the world
