question about BMW 328XI
Hi
That is great to get helps from all members over here.
I do have another concerning about buying a car. It is BMW 2007 328XI,automatic,all wheel drive(I decided to go for Automatic) with Odometer is 99,555 KM and the price is around $29,000.However, when I looked at the history of it, there was a report that :
Code:
Date of Accident : 4/6/2009
Type of accident: Partial loss
Damage amount is $ 4,172
I dont even know what Partial Loss is and according to the damage amount, how serious it is.
Can you guy give me any comments about this car and you think should i go for it.
Thanks

the total damage did not exceed the cars value that's why its a partial loss
-imho, i wouldn't buy the car 1, because its overpriced 2, because you don't know the specific damage done.(keep in mind a small accident now can be a huge problem later)
hope this helps

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you it is overpriced. Are there any chances that we can trace and know what specific damage was made.

That is like 35k on the road. 100k is a super high for 07. I would run away. That car is worth 22k, and they will morelikely let it go for 20+tax.

thung_mail.. hate to say this but looks like you are a sucker for either lemonage (BMW 335) and now damaged 328 xi car..
what kind of dealers are you checking out these car from?
Look for Rendered, a max member in here, he can get you a better BMW.....stop wasting time trying to find out what the damage was or who repaired it....

@Damameke :it is not my fault when to find out the damaged ones. They are all from Toronto. You know how i can contract Rendered, a max member.

Why don't you go to a BMW dealer and see what they got? You should be able to find something for that coin. Get a super low mileage 328i. Just throw winter tires on it and you would be fine.

Exactly. You can get 1.9% financing on 2007s for up to 60 months. Plus, you have a warranty for up to 6yrs or 160k.

Definitely don't even consider purchasing that 328 wreck. Waste of money and since it doesn’t have a clean title reselling will be difficult on top of all the above mentioned points.
BMW Dealership is your best bet for a trustworthy vehicle.

Imho this is what i would do. Try to get a car with 40-50k on the odometer. In this case you got 2-3 years of free trouble driving. In this case you can save some cash for the repairs later on. The fact is after 100k E92/E90 will become money pits. Not all of them, but 80% of them easly. Just the way early E46 models did. Maybe you have noticed already, but most of those that can afford new cars, they ditch their bimmers by 100 000km on a clock.

Here is the quote by one other max oldie that has extensive experience with these cars. Just so you get an idea what people think.

My experience is once the expensive repairs start, they don't stop.
IMHO, I'd say cut your losses.
My '03 4.4 X5's been flawless, but I only got 48K on her.
