Arrow Federal government posts job ad $75K, to monitor seal hunt chatter on Internet

and then post Pro P.R talking points

this isn't about the seal hunt, seperate issue.
and when i say morally & ethically i couldn't do this job for $250K a year,
again it has Nothing to do with Seals!

but what you do need to be aware of is:
the gov is now (or has been) paying people to dump pro propaganda on sites like this!

Last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs posted a $75,000 contract for a "Social Media Reputation and Online Issues Management" adviser on the seal hunt.

The winning applicant would analyze what's out there on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other sites, as well as examine what techniques anti-seal hunt groups use to maximize their profile on search engines.

On Facebook alone, a search of the terms "seal hunt" comes up with more than 500 hits, some of them groups with thousands of members with titles such as "Stop the Canadian Seal Hunt." Pictures or links to YouTube feature footage of seals being clubbed or their bloody corpses in the snow.

The department would like to "gauge the nature of discussions, the positive to negative percentage of dialogue and be positioned, if possible, to correct misinformation," says the contract description

so the next time you get really trolled, it might be a $75K a year 'government shill' troll.

I would say its about seal hunting ...

OTTAWA — After the European Union voted to ban imports, Canada’s sealing industry is now courting China’s huge and growing market.

“It’s probably advisable not to have all your eggs in one basket,” said Fisheries Minister Gail Shea, from Beijing where she is meeting with Chinese government officials to discuss importation requirements.

Although Canada was “very disappointed” with Europe's decision, there is a “silver lining in every cloud” and the EU ban has forced the Canadian sealing industry to diversify, Shea said.

The minister said concerns from animal-rights activism — which led to the EU ban — are practically silent in China.

“It doesn’t seem to be a big issue here,” she said.

Canada is currently appealing the EU decision to the World Trade Organization.
