Torque converter slip

I was driving last week and the ckeck engine light came on, got it checked yesterday and it turned out to be the Torque converter slip. I have not noticed any difference in shifting or anything like that; everything has been smooth as it was before.
I tried calling the dealer and he said I need a new tranny
is this right?
any other ways go get out of this situation?

don't go to the dealer! they will always tell you something crazy like you need a new tranny. take it to bimmersport and have Charlie have a look at it and he can diagnose whats going on
