Well everyone knows that fighting tickets means you have a high probability of getting it thrown out when the officer doesn't show. I understand now there is new legislation to make them show up or an incentive like extra pay? Perhaps someone can chime in on this...

When traffic lawyers are involved cases usually get tossed when the Crown doesn't supply them with the evidence from the case during "discovery."

Clogging up the courts and requesting extensions means that you MIGHT get tossed out because of the statute of limitations (time elapsed since the case).

If this was any country outside North America they would be protesting in the streets, throwing projectiles at cops and gov't buildings would burn!!!

Swiss driver fined $290,000 for speeding

"ST. GALLEN, Switzerland - A Swiss court has slapped a wealthy speeder with a chalet-sized fine - a full $290,000.

Judges at the cantonal court in St. Gallen, in eastern Switzerland, based the record-breaking fine on the speeder's estimated wealth of over $20 million.

A statement on the court's Web site says the driver - a repeat offender - drove up to 57 kilometres an hour an hour faster than the 80-kilometre-an-hour limit.

Court clerk Heidi Baumann-Becker said Thursday the unidentified driver can appeal the decision, handed down in November, to the Swiss supreme court.

The Blick daily newspaper in Zurich reported the fine was more than twice the previous Swiss record of about $107,000."

been statistically proven that raising rates DOES NOT deter or reduce the amount of infractions being issued. The provicial gov't knows this therefore it is a way for them to MAKE MONEY. Always about making more money.
remember the 3 lies: 1. Your check is in the mail. 2. I'm from the Gov't and I'm here to help you. 3. I promise I won't Cum in your mouth.

That's bullshit, and I'm sure he has some lawyers working on it as we speak. 137 in an 80 km/h zone isn't even really that fast at all!

If precedent has been set with other speeders being fined based on income then it may be harder to have the charge thrown out. There must be a minimum charge for those who don't have an income.

Increased fines like for things like running reds and not getting outta the way for EMS is justified IMO. People that fail to comply are putting peoples lives in danger!

I hate that speeding fines are going up, cuz I often have a heavy foot, but I understand their reasoning...

Furthermore, I agree with Careless... Fight EVERYTHING. Its always worth it to at least try to reduce the fines!
