Im with wawanesa. So I mail the ticket to sarnia with the trial option filled out and they will send me the court date? Its usually 3-4 months for the court date right?

I'm also with Wawanesa... When did your policy renew? (they had a rate increase Nov 1st)

For Wawanesa:
Conviction surcharge is:
0% for 1-2 minors (aka: none)
5% for 3 minors
non-renewal for 4 minors

They don't offer a specific conviction free discount but they do have 2 select rating categories which take minor convictions into account.

Experience plus plan (plan P)
-licenced 20 yrs
-not more than 2 minors
AND
Experience plan (plan E)
-licenced 12 yrs
-not more than 2 minors

Plan P gives you 10% off
Plan E gives you 5% off

(FYI - I've left out some criteria considered for these discount plans)

They (wawanesa) recently increased their multi-policy discount applied to the auto policy from 5% to 10% so if you haven't already, tie your property policy in there.

Plead guilty - set court date.
before court - if cop issued ticket ask to speak to him outside room.- plea bargain to reduce or if he's real nice drop charge - pay less fine.
if he's not that nice then plead guilty to lessor charge and ask judge to reduce fine. cops usually do- court just wants revenue.

If you didn't see cop outside- when in court room look for cop and base your plea on his whether he shows or not. You can change your plea to not guilty even though you pleaded guilty originally.

No show- plead not guilty and chances are it will be thrown out by crown. or remanded to another date.depending his mood. usually the first case scenario.
remember this: crown and judge don't like to waste the crowns time or money. the guy sits up there hating his job listening to hundreds or wankers pleading their cases. gets tiring and makes them pissed off. LOL.

^^that's pretty bad advice, its not up to the cop to drop the ticket once you have a court date, its up to the DA.

I'm sure the cop could put a good word in for you, but that in itself isn't necessarily gonna get you anywhere. Planning your defence around that is silly, and so is pleading guilty beforehand.

You're much more likely to get the case thrown out by pleading not guilty than you are pleading guilty.

I'm not saying what you said is impossible, but for most people, they'd have more success with a different method.

my insurance company said my rates wont be effected so im just paying it off and crossing my fingers that i dont get another ticket. IF I DO GET ANOTHER TICKET, my insurance rates go up like 5 percent.

It isnt worth me driving down to sarnia to set a court date up, and then in acouple months driving back to sarnia to try to fight it. That would cost like 120 on gas for the two trips and the ticket is only 138 total. If my insurance rates were to be effected I would fight it, but they arent going up

so meuh...

as well driving there the two times is putting myself at risk of getting new speeding tickets on the same highway lol
