Do I pay my Speeding ticket?

Coming back from sarnia on the 402 i was caught by the plane doing 129.
Ticket is three points and 138 bucks total.
Is it worth fighting? How can u argue this?
How much would my insurance go up if i dont fight the ticket and just pay? I am paying 215 a month right now with a good record and im 25 years old with my full license.

thanks

I would fight it and request disclosure to see the notes and how the went about ascertaining the speed. Never plead guilty, you have the option to do that at trial.

You have the options to plead guity, guilty with a reason,, etc

Most of the time, one hopes the cop will not show up, then you are "lucky"
;the ticket will be thrown away ..

you can argue that you are only 9 km over 120km for thats the given
speed on any car on the 400 series highway..

You can almost plead down to the minimun charge($50 odd dollars) and with no point.

Fighting the ticket always looks better on insurance. my broker told me a few years ago "even if its 10 over, FIGHT IT." it always looks better when renewing insurance

could even straight out say your fighting to get the points removed and will still pay the 138. perhaps offer to take volunteer drivign school thing they offer.
either way id fight it, never hurts and itll save you big cash in the long run

i got a similar ticket a couple months back up near thunder bay. paid the ticket since it's cost me too much time and money to go up there and fight it.

unless you fight and get clear of the ticket, your insurance may or may not go up depending on who your with and how well you have been. i've been ticket free for about 8 years now and have done plenty of safe drivers stuff handed to me by my insurance. i haven't seen my insurance go up since the ticket.

It all depends on the company you are with. Look on your policy; if you are receiving a "conviction free" or "clean driver" discount, then 1 ticket will cost you that discount.

Generally, surcharging for convictions begins at 3 or 4 minor convictions. Though some companies will surcharge 5 or 10% for 2.

$215/mo. seems a bit steep for a 25 yr old with no claims or previous convictions. (I pay 225 for 2 cars - full coverage on both)

What company are you with?

Im with wawanesa. So I mail the ticket to sarnia with the trial option filled out and they will send me the court date? Its usually 3-4 months for the court date right?
