I'm totally glad this is going through, I hate ass-holes that run redlights, I ran one redlight in my lifetime and it was a accident, I've seen more people run redlights now than before they started installing redlight cameras, does that makes sense? also seen too many morons not moving to the right when there is an emergency vehicle coming, seen some poeple actually block the cop off from passing them, is that stupid or what.

Although I disagree people should be breaking the rules of the road, these fines are Outrageous.

No comment on running reds but people who dont move out of the way for firetrucks/ambos/boydems piss me off, someday emergency responce will be coming to you, and you wont want some asshole keeping them up by not moving out of the way.

WTF is wrong with you people??? Get off your high horses, it says for "careless driving" it's a $2000 ticket there are many scenarios where someone could make a mistake and end up getting pulled over by some asshole cop (not saying all cops are assholes).

Where will we draw the fu*king line?! $2000 is okay today, $4000 in 2015, $8000 in 2020? Fu*king stupid politiclly correct people!

Read that article carefully 0.87 of 10,000 people die on our roads and they're the "safest in North america" yet everyone is fine with making them "safer" by milking the populace!

.... I'm outraged and done trying to express it in this message!

I'm totally for these changes. anyone who runs a red light or doesn't pull over for emergency vehicles does not care about any one else and their safety, so why should the government go easy on them? heck I wish they would throw them in jail for couple of nights for doing shit like that. I say those who get caught deserve everything that comes for them. As for careless driving there are fine rules set up that distinguish careless driving from other offenses. I know this cuz I got one of those tickets and paid my price and I tell you what it made me a better driver cuz i learn the hard way that my actions have consequences.

Guys, don't support this crap. They hand out Careless violations to anything and everything. They also JUST doubled the rate for this charge THIS YEAR. So it's now 4x from what it was less than 12 months ago.

Anyone who's for this doesn't know the system well enough and/or hasn't been harassed.

Careless can be putting your car into a snowbank on your own street and calling a tow truck to yank you out. I know a guy that got nailed for that when he got stuck at the end of his driveway, called tow truck, cop came by and said he was carelessly operating motor vehicle and bam, have to spend a big wad of cash on defending yourself from something that shouldn't have been a charge.

This.

Even with our RWD cars if you by accidentally slip or slide in this winter weather and the cop wants to be a dick/asshole (or both?) you could get nailed with careless driving or even stunt driving depending on how long it's been since the cop got laid.

You have to understand it's not always black & white...

I was in my e36 coupe. I was on a side street and the car behind me boxed me in. So I had to do like a 5 point turn to get out of the spot. I didn't want the seatbelt on because I had to keep looking backwards to gauge how close I was to the other guy. When my nose was clear enogh to leave the spot, I reached over and through my belt on as I was creeping out of the spot (half my car was still in the spot by the time my belt was on). Cop drives around the corner as I'm doing this and tickets me... Come on!

Now with crazy fines, it makes those few situations insane.

Exactly, I was pulled over for going the wrong way down a street but I had NO IDEA because the ****ing one way sign was knocked down. Still got a ticket.
