I thoguht the unofficial rule is 3 months pay (if you want to follow the unwritten rule).

You should buy her something she will be happy with. It sounds like your girl isn't materialistic. At the end of the day, it all depends on your priorities (you and your girl).

I splurged on my wife's ring, but it was because I was in a position to do so. Your right in prioritizing the purchase of a home, etc... Live within your means, a big rock isn't worth it if you have to eat bologna sandwiches afterwards!

Yeah it sounds like you have a keeper there (I guess you already know that).

I am just laughing at your friend who thinks he is such a baller spending $6,500 on a ring, that all the girls will be jealous of his fiance's ring. Unless you are going from $5,000 to $15-$20K there really shouldn't be that much of a difference. Your friend sounds like a tool.

It's from Jersey Shore... haven't seen it, but I've heard about it.

The basic story is that chick is one of the people on the show, who I guess is pretty annoying... but eitherway, the guy stole her drink or something, she started bitching, he clocked her. Pow, right in the kisser.

I think he was charged.

1.) dude, honestly, arguing with another guy about an engagement ring that is not going to either of you is just plain stupid... If you guys are really good friends, this should have blown over right now. I'm sure a lot of hurtful things have been said by both sides, but ****, that's friendship, forgive & forget. Honestly it's your call, your friend stated his opinion, agree or disagree, either way you should not fight over an opinion.

2.) That clip is ****ing AWESOME! I wonder if she got up in time for the season finale... lol

buy a nice cock ring that fits you well. the girl will love you for a much longer time. most marriages, 50%, end in divorce. Usualy this happens because partners become bored of sex, and start seeking sex with co-workers, other women, men, etc. Women cheat as frequently as men, if not more so in some cases. Keeping your woman sexual satisfied, and not bored of your bedroom intimacies will greatly increase the chance of your marital survival. Therefore it is well worth the investment, more so then a stupid ring on a finger.

argue with people is useless. Ifind that most people i argue with in real life are wrong, and usualy i can prove my point with factual evidence. You know why argueing with people sucks? Because when you prove them wrong, THEY DONT LIKE YOU. So dont argue. Just nod your head in agreement.

This is why i argue so much on the internets. I cant argue in real life because im always right (99% of the time), and when im right and show my friends wrong, they dont like it. NO MATER How civil the conversation is. And argueing opinions, is again stupid because opinions are based on the lifestyle you grew up in and what youve seen in your life. In his opinion a more expensive ring is better. Cool. In yours it isn't. Who cares?

Who cares what you do with your money either way? Unless hes offering to give you the cash to get a "better ring" whcih is subjective regardless, then why does it matter.

PS this is an old thread. what happened?

did u get a nice ring or what?

I agree with Magnus.Who wrote the rule that its a three month salary for a ring..Diamond companies?.If your girl judges you by the amount you spend on a ring then maybe you should rethink your commitment.Buying expensive items doesnt equal to a happy start to a marriage,I have soooo many friends who lavishes $$ gifts to the girlfriend or wifes and still they break up or get a divorce.Huge weddings these days arent the norm anymore, the last two weddings I been to was small (less than 100 guests),the couples agreed its better to have closer friends and relatives attend rather than people they never met or will ever meet again.I tend to agree, why get in huge debt at the start or marriage rather then save a bit for the future but it comes down to the girl though. If she wants a big wedding and a big ring then you have no choice.
