Installing MP3 Player In E46

Hi, I have a 2000 323i and I'd like to know how I can hook an mp3 player (such as an ipod) to my car.

I don't want to take out the unit that's currently there or install an in-dash (as I'd like to keep it stock). I was thinking maybe I could have an auxiliary port wire installed? Then hook the ipod/mp3 player into that?

What other ways, other than an FM transmitter could I use? The dice kit, grom unit, usa spec installs seem like a bit more work. Any other suggestions, tutorials would be helpful.

pull the radio, look at the back, connect two wires (solder/rig something) to L/R aux input. Search for rear deck diagram if you are not sure which two locations to connect the wires to.

plug your MP3 player (any) and you are done!

There is also the option of the OEM MP3 CD player.

Like Gamite says most BMW's have the CD changer option to find the pe-wire for the CD changer look your trunk on the drivers side pull back the trim to find the wire.
Then you will need a Ipod kit from http://www.neocaraudio.com/ its simple its all plug and play good luck.

thats what i have connected in my car...love it

what gamite is refering to though is the head unit that plays .mp3 file cd's

I have the dice kit installed in my e46. picked it up here at our local bimmian shop. works like a charm
