first post - x5 questions

I'm a Jeep fan myself (owned several), but my cousin left for Spain and is asking me to sell his 2003 x5 3.0i

I'm in no rush to sell it as it's pretty fun to drive. But I do have some newbie questions.

1. is there a mechanic in the North Brampton / Caledon East area where I can take it to get the certification done? Would you trust just any joe-blow mechanic with it?

2. I noticed that the heat gauge seems a bit flaky. It will go all the way into the red but if I pull over and shut if off - which I did the very first time that I saw it as I was scared crapless - and then just turn the key back to 'on', it goes to a normal level. Is that a glitch?

3. speaking of glitches, the oil light comes on just as I pull the key out and it stays on even though I've checked the oil a dozen times and it was changed in Sept. - not even 1000km's ago.
