Since initially posting this comment back in Nov, I've actually replaced FCABs on several bimmers (not mine yet) including an Xi and althoiugh its tight (a breeze on non-Xi), you can remove and replace FCABs while Control Arms still mounted to car.
Tested mine this morning along with another e46Fanatics member in the Caldon Hills and well, let's just say the car and new setup was spectactular! The other car was a e30, S52 engine, full cage, full track mods, new R-rated tires and custom tuned and bent exhaust...... Let's just say that they heard us coming and before they could see what is was, we were gone!!!
Think my FCABs are fine.
