1995 M3 instrument cluster issues

Hi Folks

just have a question concerning an issue i am having with my '95 M3's instrument cluster, problem is intermittent, and only effects the tach and temp gauge, the gauges usually die within seconds after start up and will begin working within a couple minutes of driving, and then function normally until i shut off the car, i checked the connections on the DME and fuses and all appear fine, any ideas as some are suggesting a new instrument cluster, some a new dme, any ideas? The problem seems to occur when the car is cold.

E36 clusters have a reputation of kicking the bucket. Seems to happen more often on the OBDI clusters, but that makes sense as they're older. I've had one die on me...if it makes you feel any better...lol Best advice is to track down a good used cluster.
