And if i can't resist the modbug to do anything to my 90' beater:
-GC's (softest rates possible) w/ Koni shocks
-I'm kinda itchy to own another 24v e30 but i'll try to keep my hands off this car
-A/C serivce (i think it kinda works now and it want it to work even better!! )

Now that I have the i-drivetrain in the 325e (winter beater), I hope to focus on the texas car.
Bushings (all around)
Prep for paint/paint (at least the engine bay while it's empty)
Probably go for 2k9 Porsche Cappuccino Brown (?)
GC coilovers (maybe this winter, maybe spring?)
Tires for the 17x8 ARE meshes
Smoked lights
IS rear spoiler and front lip
Prep/regasket and paint M30b35
M30b35+5speed swap
Fix wipers
Fix left turn signal
Clean it.
M3:
Install new trunk plastics and carpet
Redye (maybe) the seats
New O2's
Fix airbag light + horn (slip ring)
I think that's it...plus whatever it takes to keep the other e30's running through the winter.

Well guess it's my turn....since I picked up another e36 for a daily the e30 is getting proper time in the garage to properly work on it this winter. Her goes my list
-full gut of interior. Carbon fibre door plates to keep it barely legal
-all new complete poly bushings everything
-new shocks and struts and springs or coil overs. Still not decided on which ones
- stainless brake lines, rebuild all calipers, slotted rotors with ceramic pads
-finish the m42 stroker with m20 flywheel conversion
- e36 rack. Maybe z3 if I can find a decent priced one
- electric fan conversion
- toying with a dual feed ram air to intercooler through the fog light holes
- lighten anything I can. Goal is as close to 2000lbs as possible
some other things to hopefully but that's what I am hoping for this winter

Too many to list, but here goes the ones that are going to get done asap!
-Install E36 M3 steering rack, that I've had since July but have had no time
-Source, purchase, and install suspension (probably GC)
-Steel braided Brake lines
Power upgrades etc are next years project............. (Liking that LS1 idea though, was always thinking along the lines of S54ish)

Oh yeah huge job for sure. But there are a number of well documented builds online which helps a lot. I think one guy even has a book for sale about the swap.

Has anyone done anything more aggressive than an LS1? Like an LS5 or 6?? Just curious, since those engines produce considerably more power than an LS1.

Theres an LS7 in a E30 M3. But people don't understand the amount of work that goes into putting a S54 or a LS1 into a E30, let alone the cost involved.
When you put a V8 into a E30 one of the heads get in the way of the brake booster, so you either need individual master cylinders ($$$) or to relocate the booster which is a good amount of fab.
You're better off puting a Euro S50 in, it bolts in using OEM parts and makes the same power as a S54.
I've decided M50NV + Holset HX35 should do the trick. S54 power without the cost.

Sam, I hear you about the cost and work, however, i'm not a fan of forced induction due to reliability issues on road courses, so I want to go NA. That said, Big V8's give out power so effortlessly with their super large amounts of torque that come in at very low rpm, but the LS series of engines also rev, so you get large amounts of hp at high rpm, which is what makes Corvettes so popular at road circuits. The only thing is an E30 even with the added weight is still considerably lighter than a Vette, so it creates a rocket!
Just a consideration of mine..............
