M30B35 vs M20B25 Problem/reliability wise?
So i'm probably moving onto a 535, never owned an M30, just wanted to ask for common problems with these engines, and also vs. the M20 engine. Anyone has any experience in the M30, please post. THanks.

Yep, super easy to work on, cheap ass parts, cheap ass replacement engines no gay timing belts and monster torque ANNND guys have reported veryy comparable mileage to the ol' original m20.
Bullet proof bottom endz ftw.
ONLY thing you may have to do if the motor has not been maintained and regular valve adjustments have not been done is a cyl head refresh and a new cam; all cheap!
Edit: another problem you may have is the ability to tame your right foot!

Nice maintained M30 in 535i is a baby crocodile when you compare them to M20ish stock. So M30 no timing belt for sure?
Do not forget it still runs on regular as M20.

^for sure, I've had mine open too many times
The chain will/should outlast the motor and car. If properly maintained.

i love mine, its insanely fun, torque is unreal, no issues with the engine, only with other things... it tore my stock m20 motor mounts, so you should upgrade to urethane, also try and stop grinning when you drive it......

I've had my E34 535i 5-spd for 2 and a half years now and love it!
It's been quite reliable - no engine problems at all.

is it this one??? I couldn't believe this ad when I saw it, so I emailed the guy. He actually had it listed at $6500 at that time. I said what's the catch and he said nothing - he needs money to "get home". Car looks clean and if it's actually legit, you could dump the CRV and make some money back. Plus buddy seems pretty desperate so I'd offer him 3K cash if the car looked ok and he'd prolly take it.

An M30 is nice... but an M60 is even nicer. I think you should find a nice e34 540i... and buy my 5 speed swap.
/shameless plug
=p
