540 Beautiful Exhaust Sound $100

Just got my Y resonator out, and OMG the sound is amazing. BMW should have made it stock. You can hardly tell ANY difference from the inside, but when you are outside or your window is down you can't help but rev it every chance you get. The sound is so refined and smooth, and just loud enough. No drone, just a beautiful V8 TONE

. I recommend it to everyone that has a V8, you will not regret it. If you are still unsatisfied with the tone, you can cut off ONE of the rear mufflers, but try the Y resonator first.

Hey Bad-Man-Wagon. Thank you for the info.. Can you please tell me what exactly you done? I understand you removed a resonator and left stock muffler on? Did you use 2.5" pipe?

I love the sound of Remus muffler but I don’t want to spend $600. Do you guys know what muffler is very close with same sound note?

Last time I priced a Remus for my 99 540i it was $900 CAD, you got a price for $600 must be on sale

Y resonator must be one of the strangest exhaust pieces I've ever seen. It's almost like they wanted to go quad, but decided not to.

This part has an important function and I wouldn't remove it. David Vizard calls it a "pressure wave termination box" http://www.ntpog.org/articles/noloss...ssexhaust5.jpg

On the E39 it is a 22 litre "lung" that fools the engine to thinking the exhaust is shorter than it is. This is good for throttle response and initial flow. When it is removed the engine thinks you have lengthened the exhaust by 4-5 feet.

Every try to blow through 2-3 connected plastic straws? There is much more resistance to flow than one straw.

However the V8s sure sound nice when it is removed...
