Does the motor try and work, but can't; or is it totally dead. Power sunroof can be closed manually with an allen key by popping off the cover (rectangular) and cranking it shut manually. That is, unless the reason it stopped working is becuase the cables broke, or the cables are out of synch, causing it to bind. Then you're SOL. You'll have to take the panel off to fix.

Always check the obvious first. Go to the weakest link- as said above - fuses.
Then work your way from there - motor's sometimes go weak and pack in .. this was and is a common problem with e30's. also check the microswitch for the motor. they get wonky too.

Make sure you have the interior breaker switch clicked in for the windows. That would kill power to them.

look in your owners manual. it will be in there. first check fuses, if good then check your switches. Also check the breaker switch to make sure it didn't close the circuit upon it malfunctioning. if it still no luck then test for continuity from switch to window motors.

You can also try banging the door panels. sometimes the motor connection shorts.

Maybe you, like me, don't have an owners manual... this might be helpful:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/101-p...-fuse-box.html

Google returns a bunch of stuff on my search for "e30 fuse diagram." But you already tried that, right?
