carry on luggage tips?

i haven't been on a plane in 9 years, and Im flying out tomorow.

Ive got a swiss army bag, its about 9.5 inches tall 17 inches long and 11 inches wide.

the US airways website says 45 inches broken down to 14 x 9 x 22, so Im well withing the parameters, and the bag is also pretty losely fit, as in it has some give and compresses a little bit/quite a bit if it has too.

i really dont want to have any problems at the airport with this, so anyones got any advice that be great. also i guess the only thing i would be brining of toiletries would be a toothbrush and tooth paste, but i guess tooth paste is a no no?

you should be fine with your bag, if it is not stuffed, also a small size
tooth paste should be fine too.

You can carry toothpaste if it's 150ml or less. Same goes for any other liquids there is a maximimum size you can carry.

You can carry liquids, you just have to put them into a clear ziplock bag which they give you before going throught screening.

The total amount has to fit into the one bag they give you.

I wouldn't worry to much about the carry on, I've seen ppl carrying some oversized shit.

Then that security person should be fired for not enforcing the rules. I've had my water and toothpaste confiscated because it was too big to carry on board. They tell you you have the option of checking them in or dropping it off in the huge box of other non-permitted items. Betcha they take some home themselves!

Deodorant is fine if its not gel. Toothpaste has to go into the plastic bag. Ditto with lighters (you can now carry as many lighters as you want.) Matches are still a no-no.

Contact solution must go in the ziplock bag, contacts do not. Dont bring any water.
