7series and daily should not be used in the same sentence, probably the least reliable of a by model made that year.
Expect alot of electrical problems/climate control/check engine lights, etc.

The only reason I am considering this is because it seems like the owner has replaced almost everything possible on the car, including the motor. although I know it never stops

Knock on wood, plastic, cement - mine has been literally troublefree except for a recent CPS (cam position sensor) that kicks on the check engine light. Trying to see if it can be cleaned or reseated to extend or correct the matter.

they are not as bad as people make it out to be.
some electrical glitches can occur, sure ( like any other bmw)
but everything can be resolved through various great info around internet sources
besides we got a ton of BMW recyclers around here - so its not exactly a nightmare getting parts.
95 4.0L motors are deemed as fail in Bimmer community, but then again - some e38's with them run fine - some dont.
power steering hoses always leak/fail. Do not use BMW part for those - get aftermarket steelbraided ones if you dont want to change them every 2-3 months
maintance and ammount of owners is always key.

the 95 i believe has the m60b40... i have the same drive train with pretty much problem free besides the transmission. i bought the car with the problem though, first gear wouldn't engage so i used winter mode all the time. but reverse started acting up after, and that's a fairly common problem.
other than that i have almost 322kms on my car and it runs perfect. factory rebuilt on motor at 100kms due to a recall on the block.

yes, the early M60 V8's were affected by the Nikasil blocks. But most, if not all should have been replaced by recall.
oh and tig, congrats on the purchase! you should familiarize your self with www.e38.org as it has a wealth of knowledge for our cars. Also, bimmerforums.com has a quite active 7 Series forum for quick responses to any questions and concerns.
Enjoy that E38
