check engine light off n on

whnever i drive the check engine light is always on the mechanic said its a light problem hes like the engine is fine n whn i drive it, it feels fine 2. i mean it will run mint no problems nothing. today i was driving down on the 401 doing mayb 110, 120 and the check engine light went off. so whn i would push the gas the car would speed n thn for a split second loose power so i could feel a lil deceleration for a very split second n thn the car would speed again.

has any1 experienced this before??? n wht should i do abt this i mean the engine is fine everytime the light goes off n its very rare tht it will go off but it happenes at high speeds i assume

the car would speed? If you mean that your car didn't have power, it could be misfiring. Did your mechanic tell you why the CEL is on? Your CEL shouldn't "normally" be on, that's not what the CEL lit up means.

its trying to go on limb mode!
Go do a diagnostic check.
Dont drive the car and dont push it if the light comes on.
My guess is you have a weak spark on one of the cylinders so either a coil or a wire is bad.
Check your spark plugs. I bet one of them is wet cause it aint firing all times!

spark plugs r perfectly fine caz i changed them last week there was a little oil tht i saw but whn i check it up with pelican parts they said its ok to have a little oil in it. i know this is a noob question but where can i go to get a diagnostic check done. plus i have been driving the car and it runs quiet well like no prob nothin so now where should i go ????/

^^^ You need to get a new mechanic first off all.

The CEL being on means there's an issue somewhere.

Was the CEL coming on and off when you felt the lack of power? Flashing CEL = misfires.

And it's NOT normal to have oil in where the spark plugs/boots are, this can actually cause a misfire.

i bet its week spark. Hence why i said check the plugs. One of them will be "wet".

If you plug it on a diagnostic and nothing shows up then its defo a coil!

Many times it's just the boot.. they tend to break down and crack... If left long enough it will stress the coil and the coil will go as well. This applies to running large gaps on spark plugs as well (or letting them wear to a large gap).

Bimmersport will take care of you though I'm sure... Charlie is a good guy!
