Best double din under $500

Are there decent units under $500?
Better yet show your double din setup. And if you dont mind, how much did it cost + installation. I've read the install on an e46 is a pain in ass as the hvac has to be gutted somewhat to make space for the indash unit. Correct?

maybe not under $500, but think of the possibilities... setting up web cams as blind spot cameras, those same webcams can be set to detect motion catching that a$$whole who just dinged your door.

Thanks!

Honestly... for $500 you're not going to get that good of a double-DIN unit... and for a few hundred more you have a fully integrated PC that you can do pretty much ANYTHING with. GPS NAV, Music, Video, Internet, Diagnostics & Control of the Car (newer BMW guys would like this you can control almost everything about your car through the carputer --windows, lights, security system, etc, etc)...

You're looking at about $1000-1200 for a half decent indash that doesn't have half the capabilities a car pc would!

carputer FTW!

Total cost (parts only): around $800. worth every penny:

before bezel was finished and mounted properly (lighting is tricky here, the screen is actually perfectly visible in real life):
