I don't think that you guys fully understand the ruling. Since speeding is an absolute liability law (meaning that the prosecution doesn't have to prove that you did something wrong beyond a reasonable doubt, or provide proper arguments of guilt and you cannot defend yourself by proving you were not at fault) and because one of the outcomes is jail time it violates your Charter rights. There is no defense for speeding unless it's a technical argument where the officer did something wrong, and since you can get jail time for this offence it violates your rights.

To further simplify if you are charged with manslaughter you can defend yourself that you were protecting yourself and you did no mean to kill the person, etc. You can defend yourself by proving you did not intend to cause the act and you did the minimal necessary to defend yourself.

A simple google search would explain why the judges verdict is right. This also applies only to the speeding part the stunting law.

The cops legally are under no responsibility at all to show you a radar/laser gun reading. NONE.

there are no dash mounted camera's on canadian cities police cruisers, their union fights implementing them hard
so the officers, notes, opinions, and the way they feel it went down is the 'official' version. the end. all other versions (ur's) will cost money to be represented, if to be taken seriously at all.

also (alot seem to forget) the cops can heap this on you for -tailgating, agressive lane change, tire chirp and driving too fast for weather conditions!!

all of these are based on an officers opinion on what they thought they saw. thats some seriously ramped up expensive ticketing powers the officer now has, and some one already posted on here one media story of a cop abusing these new vast powers
