GT500KR... can you afford to fix one?

http://www.spokentorque.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=1517

So, this guy owns a Shelby GT500KR. Gets into a front end with an animal, damaging the front end. Nothing too extensive, "Aside from a crumpled right front fender, a door that was slightly misaligned from the fender, minor hood damage, and a dislocated mirror, the car seemed to fare pretty well."

Calls up insurance and they get going on parts ordering from Ford Racing (or Shelby, it's unclear who is actually providing the parts).

Repair bill? Unimaginable.

Amongst other insane pricing is the $18,000 hood, $3400 front spoiler, and $1,300 for stripe decals. Overall bill is roughly $31,000.

The worst part? Ford want the damaged parts back! That sheet metal that you paid them $35K to add on, apparently, is theirs to take back. How is that even possible? While this guys insurance company fights with the manufacturer over it, his car has been sitting in his garage, damaged, for almost 2 months now.

Crazy.....

"Hood pins = $632.50"

For that price, they better be made of titanium.

Saw one 2 months ago when I was in the states.

MSRP about 75,000USD! and the dealer is still asking markup of over 50,000USD! Some greedy bastards are clearly out of touch with reality...
