E36 328i tuners, feedback please!

So I've recently finished my 328i swap into my 320i, with all 325 parts. Firstly I hear that when you install the OBDII engine with OBDI parts your overall performance is supposed to increase. I've also done the m50 manifold swap right away, also Magnaflow exhaust and a CAI. Just wondering what type of results people would be thinking I would get out of my engine.

And finally I was wondering seeing as I have a 325i computer in my car, do I buy shark injectors or just a 325i chip? And is there any gains to actually be noticed from this upgrade, yaya i know i should do cams but I really can't drop 600 right now on parts and labour.

You installed a 2.8Ltr into your 320 using some 2.5ltr parts and you are using a 2.5ltr ECU. Is this car even going to run?

I don't know how much money you have spent so far? Having said that did you think of installing an M3 motor.

^^^^It will run FOR SURE, but he won't be getting a the full performance out of the 2.8. What you would do is call up TRM or TMS and tell them you need a chip for your OBD1 ecu and that its for a 2.8 OBD1 m52 with the m50 manifold. They should be able to help you out.

^^ Every other forum of people who ahve done this swap say it runs even better than usual with OBDI components, so I dont understand why it would run worst?

"So I got the idea of getting a 2.8(S50 or S52 are just too expensive)from an E36 328 and converting it to OBDI, which would yield ~20hp. Plus i will have the M50 manifold to put on it, as well as CAI and Catback exhaust"

"My brother and i have done these swaps before. Swaped 2 m50 motors. Also did an obd1 s52 in his car. It is not a job you just jump into, you need to do your homework, but it is worth every hour in the end."

"I just finished my M52 OBD1 conversion. It took a lot of hard work but i am really happy with the results. If anyone has a question about doing the M52 OBD1 swap feel free to ask.

First thing i would do is get it mapped properly.
I agree with the OBD comment but not so sure about the manifold.
Personally i would have spend the extra money and done a full m3 conversion.

the car needs software for the modifications... it's ignorant to just think that a 325 brain will give optimal performance on a 2.8 motor... how can you expect the timing and fuel maps to be correct?

ok.

The M50 manifold that came on your 320 is NOT a "m50 manifold" its a "bastardized 320 m50 manifold" which flows WORSE than the stock m52 manifold. So, unless you got a m50 manifold elsewhere, take that shit off.

e36's make a little more power with a m50 manifold, and cams. Software is an ok bump too. Most other stuff isn't worth doing. If you want more torque, change your diff. That's the only performance mod in a 328 that you really can't do without.

No i did not use the m50 manifold from my car used one from a 325i engine. Quick question which diff would be the best to purchase for the torque feel, what would you recommend first differential or cams,

If you wanna feel so serious acceleration my friend pick up and 3.91 LSD.

Edit: Yes it will slightly increase fuel consumption, you will rev higher and your top speed would be reduced
Is it worth it... Yup! lol
