bmw has trouble starting

hello to all
my 91 318i has trouble starting, it takes about 5 to 10 mins for it to start then when it does start it has trouble staying on. so i keep the revs a little higher until the engine gets warmed up and thats when it starts to act normal. but even then when i hammer the gas pedal the engine wants to die.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know, thanks.

fuel pressure. - your fuel pump may be on it's way out. or severe leak down from the injectors. After you shut the car down and sits the injectors leak into the cylinders flooding the cylinders with fuel. When you go to restart - it takes s while for the fuel to empty from the cylinders. Because you have new fuel going in at the same time this takes a while. Or, your AFM is going.(air flow meter) which regulates that amount of air to fuel mixture to the motor.

check the fuel pressure then try a new fuel pump. if your injectors were leaking so bad that they release all the pressure from the fuel line you would likely be in bigger trouble.
