need advice asap

im new here but still was wondering if i could get some help

i drive a 92 325i n got into an accident last week. this girl rear ended my car and now the insurance ppl are like its a write off. i know it aint tht bad caz i looked at the car and ill try to put pictures here as well. i know that thedamager are only to the rear bumper and thats all so thats the only problem. now i was considering buying the car off of the insurance ppl but here is where i get confussed

. would the car have any titles on it since it was in an accident and was considered a write off

. after i do buy it back would i need to go through safety and emmissions again.

. the car has 299xxx on it but the 92 to 95 engine swap put me at 150xxx so is it worth fixing up.

. any one else had to go through wht im goin through and how did they end up

al help will be appriciated thanks

IF it is a write-off, then to fix that car it would first have a Salvage title, then once fixed it would switch over to a rebuilt title! The title will spoil the car. But if you really still want it and insurance is not giving you enough, maybe try to work a deal with them.

This is just my thought... i havn't seen the damage...

e36 are now often written off due to age and low value.
if the car is written off its ownership will be transferred to the insurance company so yes you will need to do safety and emissions if it is not branded as salvage.

Hey bud sorry to hear about your luck...I dont know for sure, but im nearly certain that once insurance 'totals' a car or writes it off i dont think it can be bought back..but dont quite me on that..you should call your insurance company directly.

Don't let anyone call it totaled without a quote from your preferred body shop. Now, in most cases, people would like to have their car totaled and try and squeeze as much money as possible out of the insurance (more than they would have got if they sold) and then buy a better car. Show them it's well maintained, new parts (OEM) replaced, etc. Don't say you have modifications or shit like that lol, you just improved with better stock parts.

If it's just and only the rear bumper, i don't see why they would write it off!!!

You can't change a car title. If it's salvage, you have to take it to a specialist to re-brand it as rebuilt. you can not drive a salvage title car legally anyways... (correct me if im wrong) Once fixed it will say Rebuilt on the top left side of the ownership.
Brand: Rebuilt

But usually it's with cars that have frame damage and bigger damage that they do this. If you're saying it's just the back bumper, i don't see a big problem.

back on the first of may, i hit a person who ran a stop sign. my car was a 98 taurus, and the damage was limited to the corner of the front bumper on the passenger side. basically all the was damaged was the headlight and the front bumper. the insurance company wrote off my car, told be that the car is not worth fixing.

next thing i know, i see my written off car at a local body shop waiting to be fixed. and a few weeks later, i saw the car all fixed up....insurance wrote my car off so they can sell it for profit

i thinkk what you should do is get quotes, send them to the insurance. then find out how much they will give you to write your car off. then comapre to see if your gonna save money by fixing the car yourself, and not accepting the money from the insurance.

repairs and things like that dont matter to an insurance company. they go by book value i believe. if im wrong someone correct me.

if you dont what the insurance offers you, then they will try to make another deal with you. its hard to say what will happen if you dont accept any offer they give you. you can always ask if you can keep the car, fix it youself, and refuse money from the insurance, and see where that goes.

the only thing i dont want is the title caz if the car gets a salvage title thn no matter whtever i do it wont b a clean title. plus i havent spoken to the adjustor so i dont know what they will say. if its bumper and all i will ask y they aint fixin it but if he says its body or frame damage thn it makes sense y they callin it a write off. but until i dont get word frm thm i cant even figure out what is goin on with my car but she dropped the bomb in the mornin sayin tht my car will be a write off but if he says its only the back bumper ill b pissssssed
