I used to be a regular with a barber that owns his own shop. Young guy around 30 years old. He had his own little 2 chair shop and I know he was making around 100k a year.

Well, he was working by himself at the time. I believe a more confident answer after all said and done was closer to 60k - 70k

It all comes down to hard work. You have less people on the shift, you make more but work more. More staff , less work less cash for you because you have to pay them. Barbers is like lawyers. They can do very well and very bad. I say , shitty one makes 40-50k, good ones and hard working 100k. Than again it is hard work because, as any private venture, you need to be there so workers don't steal cash from you.

Just like any small business, it all depends on who you are, what your reputation is, how hard you work etc etc...I'm sure there are a few people making BIG $$$, and others just getting by! Its also a form of "art" so if you have talent, you might go far...

i know some old school Italian barbers that make 100k a year or more. since it is a cash business they don't report everything they make to the government.
