maybe your synchros.... time for a new tranny.... it usually happens between those gears as they are the most used gears - especially with city driving

I might be wrong tho..

From my point of view, none those buggs were on E36 / E30 cars. E46s seem so bad.

Replace your tranny mounts before you spend 3K on rebuilding your tranny.

How frequently does this happen? Sometimes the clutch engagment may be incomplete when you're hammering quick shifts during "spirited" driving. Happened to me twice when I first got the car, I popped off the clutch too quick in a hard 1->2 shift and I wasn't fully used to the car. Never happened since then though.

Worst case you would get another used tranny, they're not that expensive especially for 5spd versions.

^Normally I don't care for dumb posts, but your constant fear-mongering of E46s and whining about how "unreliable" they are is starting to get seriously annoying. You had a shitty experience - we get it. Stop generalizing that to the entire population of E46s in every single problem-related E46 thread on the board.

****.

I had a 6 speed Acura before. They are known for their glass trannies. 3rd gear would pop out all the time. Does that mean Hondas are unreliable? Look up youtube and search for Honda or Acura 3rd gear popout and see the fury.

^ relax man, my car is pretty mint right now, added a shit load of money though... But i'm happy with my car all in all.

But with a prob like this, the only solution seems like a new tranny! A new tranny is big bucks! I'd consider selling it! Just a personal opinion. But then again i was thinking of selling my car but made it mint right now, i woudn't really want to **** over the person i'm selling it to either.... without telling them of course.

Relax man, Ppl need to know what's up. If somone asks me what i think about e46's i tell them. I love the cars, but their annoying. Their also very affordable cars actually, but if you're picky like me, and see some slight prob, i have to fix it right away!

Sorry for being annoying about problems relating to e46's I'm not even complaining lol, i'm just letting ppl know.

CL's are pretty badly made cars. unless you granny drive it, you will tear the engine and tranny appart in no time. Same goes with most honda's, especially H22's and type r's. Can tell you how many of them don't make it back to toronto from Cayuga from a few hours of tracking...

Hahaha Tracking a CL would be bad news!

I loved the car, bought it in stoney creek, but it was weak in performance!
