The problem growing

Unfortunately no response for my previous post.

But now I have more problems.
Sometimes my left or right LOW BEAM light does not work. Or work Good!
Bulbs are good, they did not get a power from Lamp Control Module.

I donít know what to do: replace it Ė is not cheap part.
Must be sure that it is broken!
Reprogramming also not cheap work, especially in dealer shop.

Anybody has similar problem?
Please share your opinion.
Thanks.

Find a used LCM and get it reprogrammed? Out of curiosity, check the trunk harness. I had some weird issues that traced back to one broken wire.

Sometimes it's the simplest thing.

Why do you think this fix only applies to 1999 and earlier?
I thought they all use the same chip...

Too bad.

I guess you have 3 choices:
(1) Buy used and put up with mileage tamper dot
(2) Buy used and re-code??
(3) Buy new uncoded, and pay someone to code it

(3) Buy new uncoded, and pay someone to code it

When I first bought my 1997 E39 540i I had the same message even though all the lights were working. Pick up a decent quality replacement bulb or two and switch out the bulbs. Sometimes the LCM doesn't detect older/cheap bulbs for some reason.
