Question e36 318is rear brakes came as disc'e?

my 94 318is has rear disc brakes....i wasnt aware that they came like this.

my question is:

did the rear brakes come stock with discs?

also,

if i need new pads, what pad would i be looking for?

i think only euro 1.6's came with rear drums im pretty sure

Nope...many other Euro's did, 318...320, and some 325's i think.

No 325 came with drums. Only 316, 318 and as far as i know no 320 either on the e36.
E30 320 did.

afaik all NA spec e36's had discs all around.

^^ There's your answer. Previous posters decided to get into a debate about their almighty bmw knowledge and debate euro models. Cool info though, this is the first time I see euro models coming with something WORSE than here stock.

You should check into it! Many euro models came will way less options then what we got here, like E30 style rotory climate controls in E36...single zone heating, NO ac...

when you buy pads, just give them year make model and there should only be one option, but just in case have the manufacter date and vin number handy incase they change mid year. Any reputable parts dealer will be able to help you and make sure you get the right parts.

Rear brakes last alot longer then the fronts, but don't cheap out, unless your going with performance pads, the OEM are fairly priced and work/last better then cheapies that may be $20 buck less.
