Check oil light came on

My engine oil light came on, on the overhead cluster. I got out immediately to check the level of the oil and it was fine. The oil light in the gauge cluster remained off the entire time. Any ideas?

Thanks

Matt

overhead check panel light is supposed to come on when the oil level is 1L low.

could just be a malfunctioning level sender, it happens every so often.

Check oil again when cold, if little below line add 1/2L and see if light goes out.

That light can be sensitive; it's like a 'first warning' light. Agree with juzer, check when cold, top up.

I had that happen in my ix. Turned out to be where the sensor plugs into the harness, it had come unplugged. I plugged it back in and all is fine again. Look for a wire harness coming out of the oil pan.
