How to take good pictures


I jut plain suck at taking pictures.
Here are some pictures I took of my car. The problem is that all pictures are too dark.
All pictures were taken around 18h30 with the sun hitting the car. It looked sick while I was taking pictures, but now you can't really se the car.

Anybody can help?

I have a Fujifilm FinePix F40 fd 8.3MP
