Make sure you argue this! I doubt your car is lower than a ferrari so if it passes your annual test it they have no reason to argue.
Make sure you go to a reputable mechanic and get him to do an inspection and write down on paper that your car is more than safe as proof.

yes, they want to send a message to deter people from street racing and stunt driving.
Also they want to generate revenue; and it was over kill to have several cops standing by like city workers. They are clearly BORED!!!!!!!! and needed something to do.
Keep in mind most of these uniform cops are not so swift - believe me when I say so. They don't know the Highway Traffic Act and pretend they do. They abuse their power. that is what took place. Go to the a garage and get the car re- safetyed after you remove it from the inpound. Then get a lawyer- and file a claim against the cops for unecessary harrasement and get them to compensate you for causing unecessary grief and aggravation and the money and time you had to take off work to get all this sorted out. To them the car looks to have the "intent" of street racing. and most likely removed the plates due to probably cause. Un safe vehicle was just an excuse so they can inpound your vehicle.
good luck.

Go ahead and break it down for me. Break down how communism relates to this incident, in any way or form.

Coming from a once communist country, simply put, for you, police have ultimate power to 1. confiscate your property for no real reason ( this incident) at any time they wish 2.pull you in for questioning for no reason , often times with torture or tactics to incriminate you ( there have been may stories here where police try to incriminate people and do so successfully by their hunting tactics) 3. lock you up for no reason 4. even make you disappear.
If the OP was involved in some kind of monkeying around, then the consequences would be well deserved, however, as the OP stated, his vehicle was confiscated for no real reason.
Please, all mighty Jay, explain to me how that kind of state power endowed upon a police officer is not related to following the communist ideal of a police nation. Perhaps the next ultimate goal of Ontario is a curfew.

You may have lived in a communist state, but that does not equal authority to draw on your own experiences and equate them to communism as a whole. That's like saying because I live in Canada that I can draw conclusions based on my own life on how democracy relates to Zambia. It's not even close.
Essentially:
Your experience =/= communism as a standalone ideology
What happened to dude in this thread sucks, but it has nothing to do with communism. I am literally jumping on you for it, and that's because North Americans are constantly, and increasing it seems using communism as a synonym for anything negative.

No you are right, it was my experience. Communisim was a good theory, unfortunately, it turned into a painful dictatorship in many eastern block countries, and its not something I would ever like to experience again. When experiences like this happen, i can't help but draw on what happened back in those days.
All it will take to stop Ontario from its own stupidity is one person who stands their ground. It worked to bring down communism.

communist? no.
does ontario get progressively more socialist every year? yes.
does the police force get pushed to pull over random cars and give bullshit tickets in the name of raising funds for the city? yes.
