Improving performance of my 320i

Hey guys,

I've always wanted to improve the power of my '03 320i but not sure where to start. The shark injector only works with the 325/330. Besides buying a 325/330 what are my options? Any help would be well appreciated.

Don't waste your time "trying to find 6 or 7 hp. Sell your car, and buy the one you should have bought in the beginning, the 330. I'm not trying to be mean here. Really. The amount of money you will spend on bolt ons to gain meager power upgrades you'll rarely feely will easily out weigh the $ difference between your car and a 330. I'm speaking from experience, been there done that. If you want reliable daily driver and speed isn't an issue keep what you've got. But you're asking for power upgrades, first buy the most powerful model in your line up, then go from there!

I know that getting a 330i would be the better solution but I thought I'd just ask anyway. Thanks for the reply. I'll save my cash for something better down the road.

mirek- pretty funny comment. I didn't know what to think about Porter's "help" but it's all good.

I own a 320i, and I really would like to make it perform better but I'm starting to come to the realization that its going to cost big bucks to make my 320i to perform better. It is a wise idea when the board members here say sell your car, and get a 330i.

The 320i is the same as the 325i US Spec but different engine that's really it...

You could get a CAI, struts bars, and do minor performance stuff to an extent until you can put in a ESS SS in your engine, but mine being over 200K I'm going to have to rebuild my engine.

Meanwhile, if you can't wait until you get your 330i, a Cold Air Intake, Exhaust system and a flywheel will make your car feel much more responsive and fun. Assuming it is a stick shift of course. A diff. will also make a slight difference but it wouldn't be wise because 320's already rev way too high.
The result will not be much faster to be realistic, it will just make the car more fun. Although your spending a lot of money, but I'd rather keep my 2.2 its just right for the all year round daily driving, i'v put over 150K with the above mods already ...

honestly, I would just get an intake and call it a day

on that note, does anyone have a generic intake on their E46?
Any difference between a carb vs. Ebay intakes?

I wouldn't even bother with that? How much money are you going to spend and what gain, if any, do you expect?

the KandN has been Dyno'd 9 HP+ on the 2.5L...
so if the Ebay intakes do 6 might be worth the $30
I mean, how much is a regular air filter going to run you anyways?

I have an intake. I bought it for the difference in sound, not horsepower though. Although, I did feel a small different in the pep of the car. Maybe 5-6 HP tops (and that's on a 3.0L).
