We broke even today on all our set costs. If its gonna be profitable, we'll keep it up.

ya i was afraid I would hear that

problem is that the private places charge by the ton/pound, so you gotta be careful not to take heavy garbage.

propone, the city doesn't pick up the garbage bins if they are over like 40 pounds. keep an eye for that.

$70-90/ton and they charge $40/max 10 bags so it's a nice profit..depends how much truck rental/fuel costs.

You know as time goes by I dont really give a damn about the inside workers going on strike,in fact I (gasp) I kinda like Miller now for standing up against the sick days request and his hardball stance against unions retirement package deals.I say let them stay on strike for ever like whats happening in windsor. No one there seems to notice anymore they are still striking.

Even in Ottawa we hear about the strike. They mentioned how one guy went around picked up all his neighbours trash and the next morning his truck was vandalized/totaled.

Good on ya and be careful of the crazies...

You should contact CityTV. They dedicate a lot of time to this. I bet you could get on Breakfast TV, and get mentioned on evening news.

I'd also suggest taking cash payment in person as an option, with a significant enough premium to make people prefer to use paypal. I'd bet you're losing a lot of business to people not wanting to let money go out into the ether.

I thought the GST number is just for GST exemption, for buying stuff as a reseller...

A GST number also isn't required if the business isn't expected to make over $30,000.

Do I need to register for GST (Goods and Services Tax)?
While you are not required to register for GST until your annual gross revenues exceed a minimum threshold (currently $30,000) we generally recommend that any business register as soon as possible.

Exactly how bad is it downtown? I was planning to go downtown with the g/f for the day to Yorkville and King West areas for food/shopping. Is it bearable or should I rethink my plan?

Love the entrepreneurial spirit Ivan haha
