e36 brake question

He just picked up a 93 325is this weekend,

the abs and brake pad lights are both on

put the 18's on this morning and checked the pads, and rotors, all have lots of material on them, and there are no broken wires for any of the brake system.

question is, are the pads on the market that don't use the sensors? could this be why the light is on the dash, or could tha abs computer be no good and setting both lights off on the dash.

Have it scanned! Possible wheel speed sensor! The front ones could be seized in place! There are plastic, and can break. Causing the light to come on.

the pad sensor is worn out... replace it. As far as the abs light, you'll have to get it scanned to know what is going on.

If you have replace the brakes with new sensors- right rear and left front. To reset the light- do not turn on the car-but the turn the key to the second position and leave it there for thirty seconds. This should reset the light (pad sensor)

brakes function and the calipers and pads are fine, so I am thinking its a sensor myself. There are 2 relays under the hood in the fuse box which are marked abs, could be one of those that are setting the abs light from what I can gather, going to get a bmw scanner set since I have 2 of them now, figure might as well buy my own for 100 bucks.

the pads are almost new so gonna wait for the brake pad sensor till they need to be replaced.

could be a wheel speed sensor aswell. This will cause ABS not to work.

i have similar problem... before and after i changed my brake pads and rotors (with old sensors), my ABS light is still on...
