Because not only is it a 2002, it's a ti. Very rare and sought after.

Car is back
1971 BMW 2002ti one of maybe 50 brought into North America privately.
Sad news is that the car is most likely not salvagable. Rot everywhere. Previous owner bought the car in 1978 drove it for three years then parked it. Must have been winter driven.

Rust... Bof! they all do that after 38 years.
Certainly the only 2002 with tobacco int.door's card without add-on speaker
and the mandatory torn out corners and water soak carton backing.
Is it a tree pieces dash without crack with a working tii clock and
a chrome under cover + cluster with the retro dials with MPH ?
God ! Man goes on the moon to find that stuff.
But I would watch the engine, certainly run HOT
'cause there's full of Jiffy Pop around the engine bay.

WOW that is rusty!! those flares are really interesting, too. they look steel, are they? too bad it cant be saved, but the dash/dogleg/etc will surely live on!
