E46 M3 Engine warranty

I have a problem with my engine, and i heard that the E46 m3s with the S54 engine have a factory extended warranty on the engine parts up to 180 000 km and 8 years, due to certain recalls in the past. Does anyone know anything about this warranty. The asshole dealer is keeping this info confidential...

It was extended to 6 years and 100,000 miles on 2001-2003 models.

I'm not sure if BMW Canada did the same thing though, so it might not apply for you.

What year is your car? How many km's on it?

Have you spoken to BMW of Canada Customer Service?
They'll give you the lowdown if you give them the VIN and if you're the owner.

There was an issue of engines exploding a while back; believe it had to do with either defective crankshaft bearings or inadequate oil circulation or both - can't remember exactly.
BMW USA extended the engine warranties, but I'm not so sure about the BMW of Canada - they might have not.

I do remember that if an american owner's engine blew-up in the states, the thing would be fixed under the extended warranty programme, but if it blew-up in Canada while they were vacationing here, they were SOL insomuch that they would have to tow it back to US.
Stupid, but that's the way it is.

Is your car a Canadian model or USA import?
May make a difference.

When my friend went in for the engine recall on his 2001 M3, they found fragments of the vanos broken apart.. They gave him a new engine back in 2004
