New to MaxBimmer

Hey everyone,

I figured I'd come introduce myself and ask a few questions so that I can get up and running on this message board.

I've got a clean 1991 LazurBlau 325is with black leather interior. I've done a ton of work on the car since I got it a little over 2 years ago, and it's slowly getting to where I want it.

Here is an out of date picture:

I frequent bimmerforums.com and I know you need 15 posts before you can throw up pictures, is that the same here?

I was planning on getting some new pictures up after my big spring build, but my Mom backed up into my passenger door literally 2 hours after I got it finished, so that's thrown me behind schedule.

A quick mod list;

Bilstein sports with H&R sport springs
17" MSR 103's (came with the car, mixed feelings with these)
Miller MAF system with 19lb injectors
Euro Ellipse Smilies with DDM tuning 55w 5000k HID kit
Satin Black powder coated Intake manifold and valve cover
and not a mod but I just did the t-belt/waterpump

I've also had a bunch of things repaired that were from previous owners neglect, so it's pretty close to being mechanically sounds now.

I guess I can also list some things that I'm looking to buy in case anyone has some parts they are looking to unload.

- Front/Rear Plastic bumpers (must be in great shape)
- interior carpet (black or grey)
- black center console
- IS Front lip and IS side skirts

and potentially a full genuine MTech II bodykit instead of the regular stuff (won't be able to afford that until later in the year)

Anyways thanks for checking this out, and hopefully I'll be able to meet some of you at local meets or whatnot (I've actually never been to one!)

WELCOME, you should be able to post up pictures right away, would really like to see your ride. Also take a picture of your center console because ive only seen them in black. and I don't belive there are is side skirts but somebody prove me wrong. Come out to the meets!

Thanks Adam! Yeah my center console is black, did I say otherwise? And yes there are IS Sideskirts, I don't have any pictures but I've seen them around, I think they were only an option in one production year, and maybe not even.

And your engine bay looks quite similar to mine!

Welcome, that Miller MAF must be a good mod, did you install it? Wondering how much of a difference it made.

iS skirts do exist, they are just hard to find, esp in canada.

I'm in no rush to get the bumpers and side skirts, I'm just keeping a look out for them, eventually I'll get my hands on them.

As far as the Miller MAF is concerned, Yes I did install it myself and it wasn't too hard at all. Other than switching a wire on the ECU harness it's plug and play. I really can't say what sort of a difference it makes because it had been 5 months since I had last driven the car (winter storage) and I also installed new injectors and a chip that it comes with. Plus the Canadian Miller kits are tuned for 94 octane. I did have a chip in there before (previous owner) but because I didn't know what it was I wanted to start from scratch. All in all it feels really nice to drive now, and it certainly does seem to pull harder.

On a side note, the chip I pulled out was a BMP chip, I have no use for it so if anyone wants to give it a shot, let me know and I'll hook them up for cheap.

No it just said that you were looking for a black one and i just figured that you were changing colour.

The is side skirts look pretty cool, you learn something new everyday.

Post up a pic of your engine bay, i had a oil leak at the drain tube from the mainfold to the block and while i had everything off i sandblasted the manifold and valve cover and painted it black, clean the throtle body and the mount from the mainfold to valve cover and painted the anizode blue.

The Miller MAF setup can be ordered through www.millerperformancecars.com, or call and ask for Brody, he was very helpful and hooked me up a bit because it's a Canadian company.

I don't actually own a camera and my little photoshoot I had planned with the guy who painted the engine parts (and I guess is a photographer as well) got postponed due to my passenger door getting wrecked. I'll get on it soon though!

As for the chip, $50??? Most chips sell for around $200-$300 so I guess $50 is reasonable.

Also, the main reason I want IS side skirts is because I think they really balance out the IS front lip and more importantly my rocker panels are beat up (Am I referring to those properly?? where the skirts go)
- If I can't find those skirts, I might try the cheap route and go with the taurus side skirts, but I'm not the biggest fan.

Oh, and you're right about the centre console only being black, I didn't think they came any other way but I figured I'd state what I wanted either way.... I just want to replace mine, but I figure I'll wait until a good car is being parted on craigs and snatch up what I need.

lol also ford escort side skirts fit on the car aswell. so many things to buy and not enough money. maybe after i finsh painting the car.

I hear you on that one... I definitely broke the bank on everything that I put into it this spring, and I was really good about finding the cheapest way to get parts. I'm in a strange situation now because of my busted door, although my paint is in excellent shape in most places, there are several areas which need attention, and because I also want to replace my bumpers, even more! So I think I'm just going to save up and get some minor bodywork done and have a respray done next spring after I take it out of storage.

yeah I know about the side marker. It's a legit sidemarker, as in a lot have it, but for some reason the last owner put it on backwards and too high. That's one of the things i'm going to take care of it when I have some body work done. I also chipped some paint on both my fenders when I had my powersteering fixed and the mechanic didn't get the alignment right.
