Power steering issue, 86 535i

Hi guys,

I'm having some problems with my PS, and was wondering if anyone could help.

Symptoms are it is very noisy, and the fluid in the reservoir foams up/looks like it's boiling, over the rim of the container, and the car is very hard to steer.

any ideas on a possible solution would be great.

thanks in advance.

Rene

your pump is shot..change the steering pump...rack could also be binding due to the problem as well.

If it bubbles, does that not mean the line has to be bleed.. meaning some kind of puncture? Or like ceeker said.. the pump is shot,

You will need a pump, the rear plate fails causing the pump to cavitate due to transient vibration of the shaft.

Be sure to flush the steering box.

Mark.

Thanks guys,

I did do check around for any leaks, but there wasn't any, so I'm not to sure it's as simple as bleeding the system.

will pull a pump off the parts car and see what happens.
